As a Casual Chef de Partie, you will play a key role in delivering exceptional food experiences across Arts Centre Melbourne's restaurants, cafés and event venues. Working closely with the Executive Chef and Sous Chefs, you will oversee your section of the kitchen, produce consistently high-quality dishes, contribute to menu development and culinary innovation, and support the development of junior team members. You'll thrive in a fast-paced environment while maintaining the highest standards of food safety, presentation and operational excellence.
Multiple casual positions. Band 2.1 $38.99 including leave loading + 12% superannuation
Your Skills and Experience
- Certificate III in Commercial Cookery or equivalent experience
- Valid Food Safety Handling Certificate
- Previous experience in a hotel, restaurant or catering environment
- Experience leading a kitchen section or supervising junior chefs
- Ability to consistently prepare high-quality food to recipe standards
- Strong knowledge of food costing, stock control and waste minimisation
- Excellent understanding of food safety and workplace health and safety
- Proven ability to work under pressure in a fast-paced kitchen
- Strong communication and teamwork skills
- Passion for culinary excellence and menu innovation
- Ability to coach and support Commis Chefs and kitchen staff
- Flexibility to work across multiple venues and varied shifts
- Basic computer skills, including Microsoft Outlook, Teams, Excel and Word
- Experience using recipe management and food safety systems (desirable)
- Valid working rights in Australia
- Satisfactory National Police Check required

The Hospitality team sits within the Customer Service Pillar and is responsible for the service and delivery of all food and beverage related activity in Arts Centre Melbourne including the Theatres building, Hamer Hall and Sidney Myer Music Bowl.
The Hospitality Unit is focused on delivering exceptional customer service and innovative cuisine across all venues and function spaces in keeping with Arts Centre Melbourne standards.
