The Business Unit
The Production department sits within the Performing Arts pillar and comprises of a team that delivers production services for ACM across Staging, Lighting, Audio, Broadcast, Wardrobe, Stage Management, and Safety/Training to enable the safe and efficient delivery of events across all of our venues and spaces.
About the Position
Arts Centre Melbourne is seeking to appoint three ongoing Technician, Lighting positions to provide hands-on technical support across our venues, contributing to the safe, efficient, and high-quality delivery of performances and events. This is an exciting opportunity to join a collaborative Production team and support an expanded program of activity. Working under the direction of Lighting Supervisors and Senior Technicians, these roles support all phases of production including bump-ins, rehearsals, performances, and bump-outs.
These positions require strong technical capability with contemporary lighting systems, attention to detail, and the ability to operate effectively in fast-paced live performance environments. The Technicians, Lighting will collaborate closely with internal production teams, visiting companies, and presenters to ensure lighting installations and operations are delivered to a professional standard while maintaining a strong focus on safety and customer service.
Key aspects of the roles include installing and focusing lighting equipment, operating follow spots, assisting with lighting control networks, troubleshooting faults, and maintaining equipment readiness. The roles also contribute to safe work practices, risk management processes, and the overall effectiveness of the Lighting team within the broader Production Department.
These are ideal opportunities for early-career lighting technicians who have at least one year of experience in professional theatre, concert, or live event environments who are looking to further develop their technical skills within a major performing arts organisation.
