About the Position

As a Casual Kitchen Steward, you will play an essential role in supporting the kitchen team by maintaining a clean, safe and organised working environment across Arts Centre Melbourne's food and beverage operations. Working closely with the Chief Kitchen Steward and senior chefs, you will ensure food safety and hygiene standards are met, clean and maintain kitchen equipment, assist with food safety audits and support daily kitchen operations. Your contribution will help ensure the team can consistently deliver outstanding dining experiences.

 

Multiple casual positions. Band 1 $31.19 per hour (included casual loading) + 12% superannuation

 

Your Skills and Experience

  • Experience in a kitchen, hospitality or stewarding role (desirable)
  • Understanding of food safety and hygiene standards
  • Ability to work safely with cleaning products and chemicals
  • Strong attention to detail and organisational skills
  • Ability to work efficiently in a fast-paced environment
  • Good communication and teamwork skills
  • Reliable, punctual and dependable
  • Positive attitude with a willingness to learn
  • Ability to follow instructions and standard operating procedures
  • Basic food preparation skills (desirable)
  • Ability to identify and report workplace safety risks
  • Comfortable using digital systems and food safety applications
  • Physically capable of lifting, cleaning and standing for extended periods
  • Flexibility to work across varying shifts, including evenings and events
  • Valid working rights in Australia
  • Satisfactory National Police Check required

About the Team

The Hospitality team sits within the Customer Service Pillar and is responsible for the service and delivery of all food and beverage related activity in Arts Centre Melbourne including the Theatres building, Hamer Hall and Sidney Myer Music Bowl.

The Hospitality Unit is focused on delivering exceptional customer service and innovative cuisine across all venues and function spaces in keeping with Arts Centre Melbourne standards.

This technology operates in strict privacy mode, meaning that images are not stored. The use of this technology is necessary for ACM to perform its roster, time and attendance (RTA) functions accurately and efficiently. Therefore, all new staff in the Production, Visitor Experience, Ticketing and Hospitality Teams will be required to use it unless otherwise agreed.
